Milk Makeup: I bought a full face of makeup and here is what I think.

Updated: Mar 15, 2021

Milk Makeup made its debut in the beauty industry in 2016. The brand established itself as a cruelty free, paraben free and 100% vegan brand. This brand is all about clean beauty and putting out products that are safe for your skin, but also have nourishing ingredients for added benefit. Milk Makeup checks off all the boxes, I mean what more can you ask for?

So here is the question... is Milk Makeup just another beauty brand on the market, or is it worth throwing a few products in your Sephora cart? I tried out a full face of Milk Makeup for the past 4 months, and I am here to give you the run down.

This award winning primer is probably one of Milk's most talked about products. I am personally not a big fan of primers and do not typically use them on myself. However, this primer is PHENOMENAL! I use about two pumps of product and it apply it with my hands. The consistency of the product is similar to a hair gel, it does feel very tacky on the skin ( but thats obviously the point) and it doesn't ball or roll up on your skin (anyone who has tested out a lot of primers knows) . Once your foundation is applied, it is not moving for the rest day. It truly does grip the makeup, but does not cling to any dry patches (thanks to the hydration element!). The Hydro Grip primer truly lives up to the hype and deserves its award winning title.

Ok, I am going to cut right to the chase... THIS IS A GOOD ONE. This was my first experience using a stick foundation on myself and I absolutely loved it. This foundation makes your skin look like SKIN, that feature is extremely important to me when choosing a foundation. It has a light-medium coverage and is buildable. The formula is smooth, hydrating and glides effortlessly on your skin. I use a real techniques expert face brush to blend the product and it looks flawless. I typically have issues with foundations settling in my smile lines and I had no creasing what so ever. All in all, the Flex Foundation stick wears extremely well. It lasts throughout my entire work day, it looks just as good when I first applied it.

Additional product information

  • 36 Shades

  • Contains blue lotus for hydration and chamomile to calm/soothe the skin

  • Contains elastic marshmallow root extract ( prevents caking/creasing and helps the foundation melt into your skin)

  • 0.35 oz of product

  • Keep hands mess free ( There is nothing worse when you have liquid foundation on your hand, your in a rush, and proceed to get it all over your clothes you just put on)

I am going to be totally transparent with you, I think this concealer is ok. It's not bad at all, but by no means blew me away. It in fact covers blemishes with no problem, but it does not work as well under the eye. I still have some visible darkness underneath my eye, even with layering the product. I have also noticed that it tends to crease a bit under my eye, so I have to use a little more powder than normal to set my under eyes. There are some flaws with the packaging. I find when you pull the applicator out of the tube, the stopper releases too much product. Concealer ends up dripping off the applicator and the opening of the tube gets very messy.

Additional product information

  • 24 shades

  • Medium to full coverage

  • Contains blue lotus for hydration and chamomile to calm/sooth the skin

  • Contains elastic marshmallow root extract ( prevent caking/creasing and help the foundation melt into your skin)

  • 0.2 fl oz of product

First things first... PACKAGING. Loose powder packaging can make or break a product for me. There is nothing worse when you take the lid off your powder, and all the powder is settled on top. It's just a mess to use. Let me tell you something, Milk Makeup has figured this one out! Instead of a plastic sieve, they used a mesh piece of fabric that distributes the product. The mesh fabric makes it easy to pick up the product with a brush without having to the dump powder into the lid. It also features an inside closure that snaps shut, keeping the product contained at all times. This seems like simple features, but for some reason other brands have not upgraded their packaging yet.

Now let's talk about the powder inside the packaging. It does exactly what the name says, blurs and sets. I use this powder on top of the Flex Foundation Stick and Flex concealer in my T-zone area. It truly does blur the skin and just adds the slightest bit more coverage to perfect your complexion. The powder is extremely light weight and finely milled, so it never looks heavy on the skin. I typically get shiny throughout the day, especially on my nose, I find I don't have to do touchups throughout the day when using this powder. This is genuinely a really great powder, if you are in the market for a new one, I suggest giving it a try.

Additional product information

  • Talc free and silicone free ( no white cast or chalky finish)

  • 31% lighter than most setting powders

  • Contains avocado powder and hyaluronic acid

  • 0.87oz of product

Cream products have quickly became some of my go to's as opposed to powders. The Milk Matte Bronzer in the shade baked is one of favorite products. I love this product so much I bought both shades for my pro kit. This bronzers creamy formula works well on top of foundation and blends seamlessly. The color is the perfect amount of warmth without looking too orange.

Milk's Lip+ Cheek is another product from this line that is just ok. This product is dual purpose and is marketed as a hydrating lip tint and sheer blush. I purchased the shade "werk" which is described as a dusty rose color. The shade looked nice on the skin and was easily buildable. However, the formula felt tacky on my skin. I also noticed the color faded easily on my skin.

Now time for the makeup product everyone loves, highlighter. Milk's highlighter stick gives you that natural glow from within. The formula is packed with hydrating ingredients coconut oil, mango butter and avocado oil. It glides on easily to the skin, buildable and doesn't have any chunky glitters in it. For all my makeup wearers that love a natural glow without intense glitter, this product is for you.

Additional product information

  • 2 Bronzer shades

  • 5 Lip and cheek stains

  • 1 highlighter shade

After trying out a full face of Milk Makeup, I can confidently say this is a brand worth impulsively buying at Sephora. The great thing about this brand is a majority of their products come in a smaller sample size for just $15. It gives you the opportunity to try out their line without committing to the full size. Milk also has a wide range of shades with their foundations and concealers. So many brands lack on having enough shades to cater to all skin tones, so this is a huge plus! Milk Makeup is a great brand for people who love natural makeup and a quick, easy application. Even if you enjoy a little more glam, I believe everyone can find one product they enjoy.
